Where My Programming Power Comes From

· Posted in Meta
Many people ask me a variety of questions. Some are about programming, some about mountain bikes, some about reptiles. Some are about something that's bigger than me or any single source file or database dump. It's about a matter that should be at the highest importance to every software developer: My hair.1 Yes, my hair. I'm not even going to not brag, I have some pretty awesome hair. If you then factor in the beard…well…I just can't be stopped…

Tweet Link Rollover

· Posted in Meta
I don’t like visiting sites for something really simple. Reading a single tweet is one of them. If I link to a tweet, you shouldn’t have to go to Twitter to view it. It’s just 140 characters. So what did I do? I added some codes to my blog to pull those tweets in. If I link to a tweet, I can go off to Twitter, pull in the tweet and set the ‘title’ attribute on the anchor tag so when you hover over the link, it shows the tweet text. Yay! From thi…

FeedBurner Is Awesome, Github Is Breaking, And This Is A Test

· Posted in Meta
FeedBurner has a new feature out, since Google announced their URL shortener. I originally had logic to shorten the permalinks with tr.im, then post to Twitter, but since FeedBurner can do this now, I'm not going to do it. I like to outsource that kind of stuff, which I'll talk about in a later post. Also in the news today, Github is having some problems, but they'll be back soon, so don't you worry. All in all, this is more of a test to see how…

Feedburner Fiasco, Part 3

(See (remote-inline)Part 2) Well I found the proper ping URL, http://ping.feedburner.google.com/, and it looks like everything is supposedly working as advertised. No doubt I'll be keeping an eye on things for the next little while… Google Reader also seems to be a bit slow too. EDIT: Nope. 37 minutes after publishing even with the ping and Feedburner doesn't have it yet. Changing plugins for giggles.

Feedburner Fiasco, Part 2

(See (remote-inline)Part 1) My initial thought was that Feedburner was just getting redirected to itself, but the code is there in the plugin, and does work, but added a ping, so hopefully this actually makes it update a bit faster… It's probably some sort of caching issue, which I'm investigating as well.

Feedburner Seems Behind The Times...

In that, my feed doesn't get updated fast enough. I had a post go out at 8 AM, then at 8:47 AM, and they both showed up at just after noon. Anybody else experiencing this? I'll probably follow up if I fix this.

New Tech Blog

· Posted in Meta
Greetings all. This is my new place for my technology, programming and professional related musings as part of my professional online presence I'm going to be first moving over the tech posts from my other blog, and then posting new stuff as it comes along. Everything should be setup and working (oh except I need to get a better disclaimer in there…) so subscribe and see what I have to say. Or don't. It's your choice. I love the web!
